Start your Summer with Smooth Skin

Laser Hair Removal is the best way to get rid of unwanted hair anywhere on your body. It is one of the most popular treatments among all clients for a good reason, it is an easy and convenient way to ditch your razor.

Spring is the most popular time of year to come in for these treatments as we are still wearing our rain jackets and sweaters for a little while longer, but we can see the sunshine at the end of the tunnel. We all want to prepare ourselves for shorts and bathing suit season, and now is the perfect time to do it. Once we spend weekends away at the beach, and build up a nice tan, we want to stay away from laser hair removal treatments until our tan has faded away. When preparing for your laser hair removal appointments, there are a few key things to keep in mind:

  1. Skip The Sun Tan:

Laser hair removal and sun tans do not mix, so it is important to ensure your skin is free of a tan before coming in for your laser hair removal appointment. When your skin is tanned, the melanin from the tan attracts the laser instead of the hair follicle, meaning the treatment won’t be as effective, and instead you may walk away with side effects you weren’t counting on. If you have been in the sun and have gotten some colour, it is important to wait until your tan fades before continuing on with your treatment. It is best to wait 2-4 weeks after being out in the sun before coming back in. If you don’t want to give up laser hair removal for the Summer, make sure you are keeping covered in SPF and avoid sun bathing on the beach.

  1. Shave Before Your Appointment:

It is a common misconception that, like with waxing, you want to have a little bit of hair on the surface for the best results. With laser hair removal, we want the laser to penetrate deep into the hair shaft to the root of the follicle, so shaving beforehand is the best way to ensure you will get the best treatment possible. We always recommend shaving the area 24hrs before your appointment so your skin has a chance to recover after the possible irritation from the razor.

  1. Stick To Shaving Only:

While going through your laser hair removal process, you want to make sure a razor is the only thing you’re using to get rid of unwanted hair between appointments. When we wax or tweeze the hairs out, we remove the root right along with it, meaning there is nothing left for the laser to target. If you are waxing between appointments, you are only hindering your results, taking even more sessions to get rid of the hair.

  1. Arrive To Your Appointment Cleansed:

You want to make sure your skin is clean and free of any makeup, lotions, and deodorants before your appointment. When there is anything on the surface of our skin, it creates a barrier that makes it harder for the laser to penetrate, giving us a less than ideal outcome. It is best to avoid putting anything on your skin before your appointment to make it an easy and smooth experience.

Now is the perfect time to take the plunge and get started on your laser hair removal journey. Book in for your complimentary consultation and we will answer any other questions you may have and get you started on your smooth summer skin!
