Why Dermal Fillers?
Over time, our skin loses hyaluronic acid and collagen, leaving us with fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of fullness and elasticity. However, all is not lost! Health-care professionals can now inject dermal fillers into your skin to help replenish and refresh your appearance. At Electra Laser, we use Juvéderm® as we feel it is the premier dermal filler and provides our clients with the best results possible.
What is a Dermal Filler?
A dermal filler is a soft, injectable gel filler—such as Juvéderm®—that a doctor injects into your skin using a fine needle. It is comprised of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar in your body. Juvederm is a Health Canada and FDA approved injectable dermal filler.
How does Juvéderm®work?
The hyaluronic acid in Juvéderm combines with the water in your skin to restore lost volume and reduce lines and wrinkles. Once injected, it enhances skin elasticity for a more youthful appearance. It adds volume to your skin by filling the spaces between the collagen and elastin fibers, which helps minimize the appearance of wrinkles and thinning skin. These injections have also been shown to stimulate collagen production.
Which areas can benefit from Juvéderm®?
Many areas of the face can benefit from Juvéderm treatments including: nasolabial folds (the parenthesis lines from nose to mouth), under eye hollows, tear troughs, nose, lips, cheeks, jawline and areas of depression.
Full lip or Mini lip treatment?
A full Lip Fill generally refers to using an entire syringe of filler. A small amount of Juvéderm is placed around the lip margin to enhance the outline of the lips, cupids bow, and philtral columns. The rest of the syringe is placed into the body of the lips to add fullness. Just looking for a subtle enhancement? A Mini Lip Fill is the perfect treatment for you! A small volume of filler is injected into the body of the lips to subtly plump the lips. A Mini Lip Fill treatment is the perfect introduction to lip enhancement and can be purchased and administered in increments of one, two or three injections, depending on the enhancement you are looking for. Our doctor will always discuss your expectations and options with you before beginning your treatment.

Our doctor will first consult with you before administering any treatment. The actual injection process is quick, taking anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes, depending on the area you are having treated. You will see results instantly. Most people are able to return to their normal routines immediately following treatment.
What happens when you combine Juvéderm® with Botox® Cosmetic?
A wonderful thing—we call it SOFT LIFT™. This treatment involves using BOTOX® Cosmetic to treat upper facial lines such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines; and Juvéderm® to treat volume loss and folds in the mid- to lower face. The result is a full facial rejuvenation effect that is both balanced and natural looking.
